After installing SharePoint 2010 SP1 with the June CU on a clients server. I ran the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard like I always do and I got an error that said that it couldn’t connect to the database. The Actual message from the PSConfig log was:

So I ran the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard again and this time I noticed quotes around the Configuration Database Server field on the 2nd step of the wizard. This didn’t seem right so I dug into the registry at :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0\Secure\ConfigDB
and altered the dsn key to remove the quotes from the server name. After that I ran the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard one more time and it succeeded.
