Job Description:
The selected candidate will have demonstrated success in communicating complex issues to business and scientific audiences within a marketing context. You will lead the writing, editing, and authentication of scientific promotional materials, including product data sheets, technical notes, educational materials, newsletter articles, and web-based communications. You will also help lead other science writers within your team. This literature supports microarray and sequencing products used to study genetic variation and function for both research and diagnostic applications. You will be synthesizing and describing complex scientific data, and be well versed in scientific terminology, principles, and publishing standards.

You have superior project and time management skills, excellent organization, unfailing attention to detail, and quality and a desire to elevate and mentor others. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have learned to manage multiple projects from concept to publication under tight deadlines and changing conditions, while coordinating input from multiple stakeholders. You respond creatively and resourcefully when obstacles arise, and know the power of trusted relationships across disciplines. You lead by example.

You enjoy spending your time both in creative and scientific environments and pride yourself in being the one who pulls the two together and easily explain to others the importance of this powerful combination. You have exceptional grammatical, writing, and editorial skills and English proficiency. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and working with an enterprise content management system are a plus.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Research and write persona-based and product-based marketing content for web and print, including product data sheets, technical notes, application notes, press releases, white papers, and educational materials.
  • Help direct junior technical writers in writing, project management, and participating on initiative teams.
  • Work with the global creative studio to obtain illustrations and other marketing materials, and drive a multi-department review process.
  • Lead efficient collaboration with global creative studio members, product owners, and other stakeholders to produce the most efficient outcomes of various engagements.
  • Author content in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, and an enterprise content management system.
  • Quickly learn and apply new tools, processes, and scientific information.
  • Mentor other technical writers.
  • Give and receive direct feedback.
  • Occasional travel required.


  • 5+ years of experience in scientific marketing writing or similar.
  • Advanced degree in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or other life science field.
  • An online portfolio of writing samples.
  • Experience writing or reviewing scientific literature.
  • A collaborative and curious mindset.
  • Practical life sciences lab experience preferred.
  • Commercial experience in a life sciences company is a plus.
