Strategic Staffing for a High-Tech Audio-Visual Equipment Manufacturer

Client Overview:

The client, a renowned manufacturer of high-tech audio-visual equipment, is distinguished for supplying top-tier technology to global venues, including prominent music stages and conference centers. They are currently engaged in a transformative SAP S/4HANA implementation, moving from ECC with a green field approach. The company has a significant presence in Chicago, USA, with additional global operations supported by offshore teams in India.

Business Challenge:

The client faced critical challenges with their initial system integrator during the first two phases of their SAP S/4 transformation. The lack of expected expertise led to the search for a new partner that could provide a more robust staff augmentation approach rather than traditional consulting. This transition was critical as the company aimed to enhance their order-to-cash and in-house repair functionalities, with a need for skilled resources in various SAP modules.

The Solution:

Planet Technology responded swiftly to the client’s needs by providing skilled consultants for key roles within the company’s SAP S/4HANA roadmap. The positions filled included:

  • SD-OTC (Order to Cash)
  • SM (Service Management including In-House Repair)
  • CRM Service including In-House Repair
  • FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) including Settlement Management
  • EDI for Integration

Over ten consultants, blending onshore and offshore resources, were deployed beginning November 2023. This approach allowed the client not only to address immediate and essential expertise gaps, and also support their design and realization phase heading towards a go-live date in April 2025.

Current Engagement and Future Work:

The strategic staff augmentation by Planet Technology enabled the client to remain on track for their ambitious modernization timeline. The client recently moved to the testing phase with robust support structures for hypercare and ongoing system support post-launch.

As of now, Planet Technology continues to support the client in phase 3 of the SAP S/4 transformation, focusing on optimizing current implementations and preparing for phase 4, which will encompass Manufacturing, Direct Procurement, and Product Lifecycle Management. This future phase will complete the transformation from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. Continuous support and optimization will be provided, ensuring the client can effectively manage their multi-system landscape and integrations with over twenty applications, including Salesforce, Boomi, and SAP Hybris.
